Overview:
SMART Modular Technologies is seeking a Field Application Engineer (FAE) for Specialty DRAM & Flash memory products in the Silicon Valley/Bay Area region. The FAE will report to the Sr. FAE Manager. The candidate must be local to the Silicon Valley/Bay Area region in order to support those customers.
Responsibilities:
- Support pre-sale and post-sale activities and act as member of technical staff to answer technical questions related to shipped products targeted for Tier1 and other enterprise customers.
- Serve as the outbound technical sales liaison for all OEM accounts to ensure satisfactory customer technical support, including overseeing the technical support function based on diagnosis and troubleshooting of system and processes
- Provide exceptional technical support leading to design wins, as well as ongoing support for existing products and customer programs as needed
- Stay informed of competitor offerings and how they compare with SMART’s products.
- Engage and maintain strong technical relationships with key strategic customers through in-depth discussions regarding challenges and major initiatives
- Manage project tracking, documentation, problem solving, sampling, and life cycle of the product for customers
- Work with customer’s technical team to ensure product meets specifications
- Work with internal applications engineering and design teams to provide accurate, timely and quality responses to customer technical support requests
- Coordinate engineering response and resolution through engineering meetings and customer onsite laboratory work
- Liaise with current and potential customers to determine needs and qualifications, including communicating directly with customers, managing customer relationships and making effective presentations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or similar degree track
- 6+ years of relevant field experience
- DRAM and NAND memory product expertise
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Processors, computers, and servers
- High-speed PCB design and signal integrity in working with PCB layout
- Hardware engineering on debugging and testing products
- PMICs and discrete DC-DC power management solutions
- Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes and protocol analysers for testing and verification purposes
- Capability to download firmware, run performance, and check health of an SSD
- Knowledge of SATA and PCIe SSDs, eUSB, eMMC, CF, and SD cards
- Knowledge of DRAM technologies including DDR5 and CXL™
- Collaborative team member, with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Detail-oriented to ensure high quality communications
- Demonstrated effectiveness using data to communicate and inform decisions
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple timelines
Travel:
- Travel will be local to Bay Area customers but could also include <10% to other locations.
Compensation/Benefits
The pay range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position in California is $125,000 - $157,000; the pay ultimately offered within the expected range may vary based on business considerations, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. The position is bonus eligible and there is a range of medical, dental, and vision benefits available, as well as a 401k saving plan and other benefits and plans, such as Paid Time Off, Life Insurance, and an Employee Assistance Plan.
