Overview

Penguin designs, builds and deploys customized HPC and AI Solutions to our customers. The HPC and AI Engineering team are responsible for designing those solutions using a combination of internal and 3rd party software and hardware. The scope of the team extends from working with the sales team to design a solution which meets the customer specific needs, through working with internal and external engineering teams to deliver the required building blocks and on the back end documenting the complete solution and providing manufacturing with detailed build documentation. The team is also chartered to identify those solutions which are repeatable and should be made available as off the shelf solutions.

 

We are recruiting an Engineering VP to lead this team. This is a highly visible role, and the successful candidate will work with our CTO and Product Management teams to define and deliver on our HPC and AI solution strategy.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Working with the CTO and Product Management to select key industry partners and solutions and defining the overall solution roadmap.
  • Working with our Internal Software teams and Product Management to define our internal software roadmap to support the overall solution roadmap.
  • Working with Product Management and hardware engineering to ensure the required Server, Storage and Networking components are available for solutions.
  • Selecting and managing partnerships with 3rd party software vendors including Software defined Storage vendors.
  • Defining and running a rigorous Engineering process to deliver high quality customized and repeatable solutions. 
  • Optimizing the delivery process to maximize reuse while ensuring Penguin’s leadership in customized solutions is maintained.
  • Managing Penguins internal validation lab for system level validation.
  • Staffing and delivering the technical aspects of customer POCs which drive new capabilities in Software.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science
  • Strong domain knowledge across hardware and software for HPC, AI and high-performance Storage with a deep understanding of the current market and solutions and the ability to drive a differentiated product strategy across hardware and software
  • 10 + years of Engineering Management experience
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to work in an Agile environment reacting to changing customer needs
  • Experience in developing and optimizing engineering processes
  • Experience in leading and managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with engineers, designers, researchers, and other stakeholders
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence and persuade at all levels
  • Analytical, creative, and strategic thinking, and the ability to solve complex problems and make data-driven decisions
  • Passionate, customer-centric, and results-oriented mindset, and the ability to adapt and learn quickly
  • Strong executive presence with the industry recognition to act as a senior spokesperson for Penguin with customers and industry groups

 

Compensation & Benefits

The pay range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position in the United States is $208,000 - $286,000; the pay ultimately offered within the expected range may vary based on business considerations, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. The position is bonus-eligible, and there are medical, dental, and vision benefits available. There is a 401k saving plan and other benefits, such as Paid Time Off, Life Insurance, and an Employee Assistance Plan.
