Overview

The Product Storage Engineer supports the Data Technologies Practice within the Strategic Solutions Group developing, testing, validating, benchmarking and documenting storage reference architectures focused on leveraging infrastructure as code.  This role participates in integrating and delivering storage workload driven demos and POCs focused on end-to-end solutions for enabling technology capabilities in Data, Cloud Native, HPC and AI and Analytics Technologies. The Product Storage Engineer will develop subject matter expertise and support product, solution and services development for the Data Technologies Practice, enabling the company to deliver an unparalleled customer experience around delivering data practice capabilities.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and validate scalable and distributed storage reference architectures that will help enable and power AI and data infrastructure workflows for AI, ML, and Analytics platforms.
  • Collaborate with multiple SSG practice teams to understand and define data and compute requirements for various workloads, use cases and verticals.
  • Be an internal champion for Data workflows and technologies among the Penguin technical community.
  • Collaborate with internal research and technical teams at Penguin solving complex problems.
  • Evangelize and test drive new developments in the deep learning and artificial intelligence, scouring journals, and conferences for new algorithms, techniques, and capabilities.
  • Document what you know and teach others. This can vary from building targeted training for partners and other Data Scientists, to writing whitepapers, blogs, and wiki articles, to simply working through hard problems with a customer on a whiteboard.
  • Collaborate on solving complex technical challenges in various areas supporting the four SSG practices including Data Technologies, Cloud Native Technologies, High Performance Computing Technologies and AI, ML and Analytics Technologies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 4+ years of technical storage experience.
  • Skills related to storage troubleshooting with the ability to root cause problems across all facets of storage, including OS, IO, network, etc.
  • Familiarity with traditional and modern data technologies.
  • Knowledge of enterprise data technologies, including experience with block, file, and object storage systems.
  • Performance analysis and benchmarking experience
  • Experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires independent time management, task prioritization, flexibility, and keen experience to identify problems and proactively work towards solutions.
  • Experience with effectively working with cross functional teams including, but not limited to, partners, engineering, marketing, sourcing, supply chain, operations, finance, and legal.
  • Track record of operating independently and taking initiative, embracing ambiguity, demonstrating creativity, being detail-oriented, and delivering results in a highly organized manner.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to a broad range of audiences.
  • Highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work successfully with multi-functional teams, principles and architects and coordinate effectively across organizational boundaries and geographies.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with management and engineering.
  • Strong time-management and organization skills for coordinating multiple initiatives, priorities and implementations of new technology and products into very complex projects.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have a go getter attitude to dive deeper and understand technical requirements with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Data technologies related to HPC, Cloud, and/or AI.
  • U.S. Citizenship

 

Location

Remote employment is available for this position. Penguin Solutions is headquartered in Fremont, CA.

 

Travel

You may be expected to travel up to 30% of the time for team collaboration, planning meetings, and possible partner or vendor engagements.

 

Compensation & Benefits

The pay range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position in the United States is $116,000 - $160,000; the pay ultimately offered within the expected range may vary based on business considerations, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. The position is bonus-eligible, and there are medical, dental, and vision benefits available. There is a 401k saving plan and other benefits, such as Paid Time Off, Life Insurance, and an Employee Assistance Plan.
