Overview

Penguin Computing is hiring a Presales Program Manager role within the Penguin Program Management Office. A Presales Program Manager partners with the Sales organization to provide support in qualifying, solutioning, proposing, and closing deals. The Presales Program Manager will engage stakeholders from across the organization to accomplish this mission. The Presales PM will help with activities such as evaluating and prioritizing the pipeline, developing the winning strategy, solutioning the deal, coordinating proposal preparation (including authoring some sections), and identifying and driving the tasks needed to close the customer and win the deal. The Presales Program Manager ensures that the sales process is efficient and effective, and that all deals meet strategic, technical, and business criteria and that proposals/bids are approved in accordance with company policies.

 

Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy: Work alongside Sales and delivery teams to understand customer requirements, develop estimates, preliminary schedules, and secure necessary approvals.
  • Proposal Development & Management: Lead and manage the proposal development process from kickoff to submission. Collaborate with subject matter experts to complete the required tasks and gather necessary information. Ensure proposals are responsive to client requirements and address their key concerns. Coordinate the development of graphics, charts, and other visual elements with appropriate parties.
  • Coordination & Collaboration: Schedule and lead proposal kickoff meetings, review sessions, and other related discussions. Collaborate with the sales and business development teams to understand the strategic positioning for each deal. Organize product demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, and customer discussions as needed to meet customer expectations.
  • Compliance & Quality Control: Ensure that proposals adhere to company and client specifications, standards, and branding. Review and analyze RFPs (Request for Proposals), RFIs (Request for Information), and other client requirements to ensure full compliance.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously refine and improve the proposal development process. Maintain a repository of standard proposal content for reuse.
  • Content Creation: Write, edit, and proofread proposal content to ensure clarity, coherence, and compelling narratives. Maintain an updated library of company data, including statistics, testimonials, case studies, and more.
  • Contract Negotiation: Collaborate with partner management and legal teams to ensure terms and agreements are inclusive of complete scope of work, as well as helping to guide the contract negotiations process.
  • Project Financial Compliance: Responsible for ensuring project financials are approved prior to deal signing.
  • Deal Close: Assist and close complex deals, including cross-negotiating with customers, stakeholders, and partners.
  • Reporting: Track and report on deal metrics, including win rates, submission counts, and feedback.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Sciences, Business Management/Administration, or equivalent with the required experience and skills.
  • 5 or more years of experience with program management
  • Strong technical acumen
  • Excellent communication, writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong executive presence and the ability to influence at senior levels.
  • Experience leading cross-organizational programs, establishing plans, holding team members accountable to timelines and deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, taking initiative, embracing ambiguity, thinking creatively, being detail-oriented, and delivering results.
  • Analytical and problem-solving experience
  • Communication and interpersonal experience, including relationship building and collaboration within a cross-functional team.
  • Experience understanding product requirements and translating needs into plans.
  • Experience working with technical teams.
  • Experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires independent time management, task prioritization, flexibility, and keen experience to identify problems and
  • This role requires project and proposal management experience and broad knowledge of research's impact on product design and development. Communication skills, stakeholder management, and an organized approach are mandatory.
  • PMP and/or Shipley/APMP certification desired.

Compensation and Benefits

The base pay range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position in the United States is $116,000 - $137,000; the pay ultimately offered may vary based on business considerations, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. The position is bonus-eligible, and there are medical, dental, and vision benefits available. There is a 401k saving plan and other benefits, such as Paid Time Off, Life Insurance, and an Employee Assistance Plan.
